How does interacting with peers help kids to be positive?

Interaction is the basic part of our social life. It makes us comfortable in our surroundings and helps us to adapt to the things that can be new to us. We understand the perspectives of others and can showcase how our differs. Not all communication that we involve is done to satisfy social needs, it sometimes gives us an idea of how people build their opinions unlike us.

Kids in their early years love to interact with everyone around them. They can be even comfortable with strangers. They are born social. However, sometimes as they grow up, they start feeling shy and nervous with any new interaction. The best chance of making kids comfortable with communication is by encouraging them to interact with their peers.

As children grow, they tend to be comfortable with their friends. However, interaction with peers other than friends gives them a chance to understand perspectives that could be different yet more reasonable. The peers do not necessarily have to be at school, it could be anyone of the same age or around.

Interacting with peers can help kids in the following ways-

  • To strengthen their interpersonal skills.

  • To understand the viewpoints of someone in the same situation and how it differs from theirs

  • Help them to make friends

  • To get access to unbiased reviews

  • Make them tolerant toward other opinions.

Interaction out of the friends’ circle is sometimes more beneficial as it is unbiased and honest. Therefore, educators and parents must ensure that the children get a chance to interact with their peers often.
