Why do kids choose to lie over the truth?

Have we ever wondered why kids often find it easy to lie than to speak the truth? Or how They learned to hide the truth?

It is a human instinct to save ourselves in danger or in a situation where we think we will be blamed. Similarly, when kids choose to hide the truth or blatantly lie, it is not because they want any harm but because they want to save themselves. Moreover, this is something that is not taught to them, but they learn. How do they? That’s a part of the discussion.

Usually, kids lie because they are scared of being blamed for the situation or because they are aware of the strictness of the person to whom they are accountable. Kids are very observant. They learn what they see and can evaluate the results of their wrong actions.

If we don’t want our kids to lie, we must teach them the importance of telling the truth. Merely teaching kids not to lie will never help. However, teaching them to face the difficulty that may come with telling the truth and facing the reality is the only way that keeps them from lying.

Inspiring kids to speak the truth irrespective of any consequences would make them strong-headed and capable enough to speak and stand the truth. Lies are the tool of the deceiver and we do not wish our kids to be part of this deception.

People often state that a lie is better than a harsh truth, but isn’t it funny that we never questioned why the truth is harsh or maybe it is because it breaks our unrealistic notions? To refrain our future generation to build such notions about people and also not being the person who refrains from telling the truth is where we need to lead our kids.
