'Reading'- The healthiest addiction.
Have you ever felt that all you’ve read today are social media tweets and Instagram posts? However, is this information installed enough to promote a well-balanced mental being?
Research has suggested that whosoever plays a brain-challenging game for about one hour every day will have fewer chances to develop Alzheimer’s disease. In the same way, a person who reads every day has her brain sharpened, thereby preventing the likelihood of suffering from any brain disease.
Book reading also reduces the stress level in the body. Snuggling with a good book before sleeping helps a person to reduce stress levels and woo away from immediate worries. In the words of a cognitive neurosurgeon, losing oneself in a book leads to ultimate relaxation. In uncertain economic times, this becomes poignant as we are craving some degree of escapism
Additionally, reading can never go in vain; if nothing, then at least it would help improve a person's overall general knowledge. Reading makes a person a good speaker and he will always be able to be part of a conversation comprising different topics. Besides, the more knowledge a person has the better equipped he is to overcome the challenges life throws at him.
Conclusively, reading makes us emphatic as one can easily relate to different life circumstances and situations that others go through. Thus, books open the universe to us, take us out of our comfort zone, and show us the challenges others face to get through in life. Books can change a person’s mind and body completely.
